Precision Milling for Reclaimed Wood

Reclaimed timber arrives in our yard as rough, weathered, nail-studded stock. Our milling operation transforms it into finished, project-ready material — planed to thickness, ripped to width, profiled to your specifications, and sanded or finished as needed.

You can bring us your own reclaimed material for processing (we mill customer stock daily), or choose from our extensive yard inventory and have it custom milled to your project requirements.

Our shop is equipped with industrial-grade equipment designed to handle the challenges of reclaimed wood: hidden metal detection before every cut, variable feed rates for different densities, and operators with years of experience reading old-growth grain to minimize waste and maximize quality.

We Mill Your Stock or Ours

Your Material

Bring or ship your reclaimed timber to our Portland shop. We charge by the board foot or linear foot for milling services. Metal detection included at no extra charge.

Our Inventory

Select species and grade from our yard stock. We handle everything from raw timber selection through final milling. Material + milling priced together per board foot.

Minimum Orders

Planing/ripping: 20 board feet minimum. Profile milling: 50 linear feet minimum. Custom knife profiles: 100 linear feet minimum (to offset knife grinding costs). No minimum for sanding-only jobs.

Capabilities

What We Can Do

Our Portland milling facility runs a full complement of industrial woodworking equipment configured for reclaimed timber processing. Here's what we offer.

Planing & Surfacing

Surface one, two, or all four sides of reclaimed lumber to precise thickness and width. Our industrial planer handles stock up to 24" wide and 8" thick. Removes weathered surfaces while preserving grain character.

Max width: 24" | Max thickness: 8" | Tolerance: ±1/32"

Ripping

Cut reclaimed boards and timbers to exact width. Straight-line rip for clean edges on rough stock, or width-specific cuts for flooring, siding, and trim. Guided laser alignment for precision.

Max rip capacity: 30" | Min width: 3/4"

Resawing

Split thick timbers into thinner boards on our industrial bandsaw resaw. This is how we produce flooring, paneling, and thin stock from heavy reclaimed beams — maximizing yield from rare material.

Max resaw height: 14" | Max width: 24" | Min thickness output: 3/8"

Profile Milling

Run reclaimed stock through our moulder to produce tongue-and-groove, shiplap, channel rustic, nickel gap, or any custom profile. We can match existing historic molding profiles for restoration work.

Custom knife grinding | Match from sample | Lead time: 3-5 days for new profiles

Molding & Trim

Crown molding, baseboard, casing, chair rail, and specialty trim milled from reclaimed lumber. We grind custom knives to match any profile — bring us a sample or drawing and we will reproduce it.

Max profile size: 6" x 3" | Custom knife charges apply for new profiles

Sanding & Finishing

Wide-belt drum sanding for consistent thickness and smooth surfaces. Orbital sanding for finish-ready preparation. We also apply oil, stain, or polyurethane finishes in our climate-controlled spray booth.

Max sanding width: 36" | Grit range: 40-220 | Finish application available

How It Works

The Custom Milling Process

01

Consultation

Share your project specs — species, dimensions, profile, quantity, and timeline. We review and confirm feasibility, pricing, and lead time.

02

Material Selection

We select appropriate stock from our inventory (or receive your material). Every piece is metal-detected and inspected before any blade touches it.

03

Milling & Processing

Your material moves through our production line: resawing, planing, profiling, sanding, and finishing as specified. Quality checked at every stage.

04

Pickup or Delivery

Finished material is bundled, strapped, and ready for pickup at our Portland yard or delivery throughout the metro area.
